The legacy begins...

Welcome to Red Cam. This blog has been created for the purpose of seeing a previously-owned car turned into a beautiful, fast, and fun vehicle. So how did this amazing car end up in my possession?

Well, it all started when my dad was browsing the Premium Motors website and came across a particular 1981 Chevrolet Camaro. It was an incredible deal at only $3,800. He showed me the site, and upon seeing pictures of the car he asked me, "How would you like this to be your first car?"

I smiled at the thought but then shook it off. Buy a car? Sure the idea was out there, as every Sunday before going to church we would usually see a car for sale, and every time we passed one my dad would always say, "there's your next car!" But somehow that idea always seemed so far off. However, now looking at the red, shiny Chevrolet on the computer screen sent me shivers of excitement at the thought of owning my very own car...

We decided to go down to the shop where it was held and take a look at the car. I went with my father and my grandpa to check it out. There it was, in all it's glory. I couldn't believe that I was looking at my potential first car. I looked at the license plate as it read "RED CAM".

As we examined it, we found it had absolutely no rust and was previously a California car. It also was recently repainted, so the paint job was fantastic. Although the head liner was thin and sagging, the driver's seat had a tear and the rubber weather-stripping was wearing away, all-in-all the car was in amazing condition.

We decided it was worthy enough for John, dad's mechanic to take a peek at it. When he looked it over, he called us and said it was in really good shape, and that any of the damaged upholstery/rubber work on the car was easily fixable. He also reminded us that it was a killer deal, and that he was surprised it was selling for so cheap. With that, we were positive it was worth purchasing as my first car.

Within a day, we purchased the car, beginning a journey of car-restoration that is to this day continued. We parked it on the side of the house, in the car port my dad had built for his Dodge Magnum.

The following works are the result of a collaborative effort of a father and son, both with a passion to restore classic cars. I hope you enjoy seeing the transformation from a vehicle, to a dream.
